BOLSENA
The village of Bolsena is one of the most precious "treasures" of Tuscia. For the pilgrims who travelled to Rome (called "Romei"), Bolsena was a compulsory stop in their very long trip.
It is a village of an exceptional and unmistakable beauty, plenty of tourists throughout the year, and it has a beautiful medieval quarter busy with events and shows. One of its strongest points is the hotel accommodation capacity, integrated by Bed & Breakfast and Farms for holidays (so called "Agriturismo").
Once the village was clinging to the Vulsini Mountains, but during the time it expanded towards the lake shore, becoming the most lively centre of the lake during summer and one of the preferred holiday places for tourists coming from Northern Europe.
For art lovers, the places to be visited are the church of St. Christine, with a façade dating of the mid 16th century, where the Eucharistic Miracle happened, the church of St. Francis, a rare example of gothic architecture, the Monaldeschi Castle, seat of the Local Museum of the Lake Bolsena, the Del Drago Palace, with its remarkable frescos, and the excavations of "Poggio Moscini".
